Meaty Q’s up the Competition

With the stress of Tax time soon behind us, we all settled down at “Little Hill Casino” for the April “Tax Free” Tournament! Little did we know that the big hands and big stacks were soon to be taxed for the poor!

The evening started like any other with twelve people enjoying the amenities of Little Hill, the conversation was lively and the cards were dealt at a rapid pace. Chips were rotating around the table and by break time a few players, including the couples Greer had been broke, and needed to recharge their chip stacks!

At break time, Papa John delivered a nice selection of pizza, and Little Hill served the trimmings, such as a fantastic salad (recipe soon to be on the S.B.P.T. Cookbook link) that I, and everyone seemed to really enjoy. And once everyone was well fed and baby Kiana was asleep, we settled in for some serious poker!

Still reeling from last month’s beat down, this month was no less torturous for Big Slick. Three hands into the tournament, he became the first casualty after his pocket aces were cracked by Sandy’s Q/2 off-suit relegating him to dealer for the rest of the night.

Dominating hands were getting cracked more than peanuts at a major league ballpark. Scooter was sent to the rail when her A/K was out flopped by Popeye’s A/Q, and again Popeye put a hurt on the Sponge when his A/10 punked Sponges A/J.

Somewhere in between those two hands was a crazy hand between Sponge and wife, that if memory serves correctly, Sandy had A/Q against Sponges A/7 suited (or there about) in which Sponge flops the nut flush while giving Sandy top pair. Sandy came out firing and Sponge just called her down, but Sandy was relentless and put all her chips in the middle only to give them all to hubby, leaving her seriously chip and temper short.

When we got down to the final table, it was the two players on each end that would control the action… Dry Cleaner with his all-in move and Meaty with his seemingly effortless bullying of the UniBobber. While the rest of the table at times were just hanging on, Dry Cleaner was cleaning up and looked to be headed to dominating victory, while Meaty was choosing his spots and pushing people around with position plays.

After Popeye had doubled through the Sponge, he then doubled again through the Dry Cleaner, leaving a stain in the Dry Cleaners shorts… but then gave all his chips to Meaty when his pocket jacks ran into pocket Kings.

That left just two… Meaty and The Cleaner. Meaty was about a four to one chip leader and only after a few hands, all the chips were in and we crowned our newest S.B.P.T. champion… Meaty!!!

A big congrats to Meaty for his tournament win and for moving into first overall in the points race.

Hope to see everyone next month… Slick
