Snake on a Poker Table
The “August Assault” turned into a Slick victory,
as the Snake slithered and struck gold at Proffitt’s Palace. “The Palace” again
proved to be a fine place for an afternoon poker game.
After the bets were made at Slick’s Sportsbook, we settled down for another battle that saw some position changes in the points standings, but left El Guapo still at the top despite bets against it!! The action started right away as the new blind structure kicked in, and the chips started coming out early.
Newcomer Houseboat took the early lead as he refused to be bet out of the pot, and got Pablo to fold to his raise and took down about 150k. Pablo struck back, and took all but 70k from Dark Chocolate, when his boat left him reaching for his wallet.

After the break, The Saw showed she still had some teeth on her blade, as she cut the houseboat in half, and sunk his tourney early. She followed that by slicing through the soft chips of Dark Chocolate leaving him melted in his chair. He would make a minor comeback, but met his demise on table 2.
Over at Table 2, Fishy was left gasping for air and eventually succumbed to the assault on her chips. Dark Chocolate melted away, and Fartman ran out of gas before he could make another final table. Chilidog reloaded at the break, but couldn’t keep hold of them, and ended her final table run as well. That left a window for Brawny, Slick and STILL points leader El Guapo to create some space, and widen some gaps in the Player of the Year race.
The action was
fierce, and in a GINORMOUS hand that changed the whole tourney, Scooter went
“all in”, Slick followed with an “all in” of his own, and the Saw called both,
as she didn’t hear Slick make his call. Scoots pocket K’s were better than
Snake’s pocket Q’s, and the Saw found out she couldn’t cut through a Snake AND a
Scooter with her K-Q suited. The loss would’ve sent Snake back into his basket
with an average stack, and Scoots would’ve vaulted to the top alone, but the
Saw’s chips kept Snake right where he was, and the title was still up for grabs.
Sub Zero was
kept at room temperature, and slowly faded at 5th. Super absorbent
Brawny’s refusal to double up El Guapo when his stack was getting low, left her
exposed just enough for the Snake to strike, and end her tourney in 4th,
but still with a chip for her efforts. Bong Pipe’s call of Slick’s “all in”,
could’ve left him in great position to capture yet ANOTHER 2nd place
chip, (as he will NEVER win!!). But the cards wouldn’t comply, as his trip 6’s
(an 82% winner with one to go) fell to a suck-out 7, giving Slick a straight and
his chips.
That left no
doubt as to where the next game would be held, only who would act as host and
offer their head to all that can attend. With the crowd CLEARLY on Scoots side,
it wasn’t enough, as the Snake’s basket of chips proved too much to overcome,
and yet another title was captured by Slick.
Next month
will prove pivotal, as we can start to get a real glimpse of the points race
(eliminating the lowest score each month hereafter).
CONGRATS to Slick AND to Scoots, who braved more than just the competition on their way to the top. Also, an honorable mention to El Guapo for defending his status as points leader, after a couple of shaky performances.
Thanks to the Proffitt’s for another finely hosted tourney, and MANY thanks to Chilidog for dealing her buns off!!!!!!!!!!
