Brawny Spills Her Drink But Soaks Up A Victory!

Twelve people would attend the April tournament hosted by “Makena Cove Casino” and twelve people were able to enjoy the spread that “Makena Cove” had for break-time.  Seriously, some of the best food to be served at an S.B.P.T. event! In keeping with the theme, they had Kailua pork and Hawaiian style fried chicken with a cabbage salad the likes that this food coinsure has never tasted!

They were also hosting the UFC fight so those that were on the fence about attending, had no excuse!  A great job hosting, and I look forward to returning to “The Cove” soon!

To the action:

Without hesitation, the action was fast and furious, and “Poker FU” was right there in the middle of it all!  Not a half an hour into the tournament, a call of “All-In” rang out by none other than the “Poker FU” Master himself and was quickly answered with an “I call” from Butterfingers!  M.C. was behind with an A/K against Butterfinger’s pocket Aces only to river his flush and give Butterfingers a free lesson in “Poker Fu”!  It seemed as if it was going to be M.C.’s night but as quoted in Slicks Picks… “I predict we will see another “Poker Fu” demonstration at “The Cove”!  This is where “Poker Fu” first made a name for itself, albeit a second place name, but will again emerge from the shadows and dominate the first table and breeze into the final table.  It’s tough to call from there but like my last month’s pick, I believe he will donate close to the end and set someone else up for victory by giving him or her all his chips.”

It seemed as if everyone who made it to the Final Table had been close to out at one point or another accept for Sixth man, who seemed to have an ever growing stack throughout most of the night, so everyone who got there pretty much earned there seat!  At the final table, we would find M.C., Sixth man, Brawny, El Guapo, Scooter, and our Host, Jerminator.

The action got even quicker here at the final table as Scooter hit the rail followed by Sixth man who fell prey to “Poker Fu’, giving the Master all his chips and making him the huge stack at the table.  But it was the next series of hands that would crown a champion!  Brawny made a terrific call against El Guapo as he tried to bully himself a pot, but Brawny already having to much invested, made the call to find that she out kicked the big man, doubled up, and left him with virtually nothing.

Then to my surprise, Jerminator battled M.C. even though El Guapo was so short in chips, and came up short himself to put him out fourth.

It’s now down to three and Brawny would again double up but this time through the Master himself when her two pair was better than the Master’s two pair.  Not long after that she would finish the “Poker FU” Master’s night and take the rest of M.C.’s chips (as predicted in Slicks Picks) leaving El Guapo with a guaranteed second place finish but an enormous hill to climb.  One hand later we were crowning a new champion!

Keeping the streak of first-timers alive, Brawny not only returned to form by spilling her beer, but would also capture the coveted South Bay Poker Tour trophy to once again return the hosting duties to Proffitts Palace!

Congratulations to Brawny on a well-played tournament and her first trophy win!
