Uni-Sponge Blows Up The Final Table!!

As the SBPT tries to overcome the hiccups of their growing pains, the February tournament was thrilling to say the least. With the new blind structure in place the competition was ferocious, the play was tight and conservative, and the “fun for all” motto was carried out to the fullest extent possible. Fourteen total players entered the tourney, all with ambitions of taking the coveted trophy home.
At the break, SBPT celebrated “The Jerminator’s” Birthday with song and cake (yum). And then it was back to the tables. The event progressed at an even keel with the usual camaraderie, and the rivalry amongst players proved to be just as ruthless as expected.
As the event shifted into the wee hours, the final table consisted of Fishy, El Guapo, M.C. Ronnie, Sixth Man, The Jerminator, and Sponge. It took Sponge less than 1 hour (give or take) to eliminate players one by one, with his death defying strikes. And then there were two… Sponge and Jerminator! Jerm was undoubtedly on the short stack going into the heads up battle against Tournament Champ Spongebob. Unfortunately for Jerm within a few short flips from dealer Erin, a wicked blow from Sponge came with an eerie shriek…. Jerminators Nine/Ten (off suit) all in bet was called, with Sponge’s King/Queen (off suit). Sponge took out The Jerm and the tournament concluded with Sponge standing at the helm once again.
It was said it couldn’t be done! And certainly not again. However Sponge stepped up to the challenge of a repeat win. Do I smell Three-Peat? It may be a little early to call it a Dynasty, but to quote Stephanie Paris, “The Trophy is home at The Paris”.
Editors Note: Uni-Bobber never actually made an official appearance, although Spongie was acting on his behalf.
The Trophy Meets Doyle Brunson

Mere words cannot express what a great experience it was to meet the man, the legend, Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson
