S.B.P.T. Now Under Marshal Law!!!

The players gathered ever so lately at the Lily Pad, and with Sandy being able to make if after being on the fence, we had a dirty dozen ready to battle.  The first hour had lots of fireworks, with “E” nearly felting El Guapo with a flush on the river to take the early lead. She seemed well on her way to victory, but that’s why we keep playing. Sponge and Sandy took early hits also, but bounced back to make a run. In a surprise twist, Meaty COULD NOT re-buy even though he probably had money ready to go just in case! He looked to be a strong contender also, but that’s why we keep playing.

The break got us full of burrito, salad and chips, to go with the buffalo dip that always disappears quickly. No one tempted fate by having the cherry pie, but it eventually came out and made its warm, crusty debut.  It wasn’t long after we started back up before “E” took El Guapo out when he pushed all in with 6’s, only to have her turn a set of 5’s into quads to completely end my night. It would be the first of two times she would hit quads, the second being much later with J’s, but couldn’t get a call on her bet. Would it be enough to take the trophy?  Cha-Cha was next to leave as Meaty bulked up for a long run at his expense. Scooter and Turtle were next to fall, And Slick bowed out to set up the final table.

Sandy was first out, and was gracious enough to deal, as the dearly departed started a cash game on the open table. (Programming note): in the future, those of us in the cash game should make sure we pay more attention to the main game also, so as not to miss or diminish what is happening there. Mac Tonight called it a night, and Meaty burst the bubble, leaving Sponge, “E”, The Saw and Marshal-Marshal-Marshal, to fight for Lily’s Loot.  The Saw was unplugged in fourth, and kept her blazing start going. The early favorite “E”, had her flame extinguished by Marshal, going out in third, leaving Marshal going for his first win, and Sponge looking to soak up lucky number seven.

Heads up had Marshal with the chip lead, and after a few hands, we had a final hand for the ages, Sponge had his 4’s over 9’s battleship sunk by the 9’s over 4’s destroyer Marshal finished with. Quite a hand to capture his first victory with! Congrats to Marshal for entering the Winners Circle, and congrats to Sponge for fighting back after a rebuy to take down his impressive 7th second place finish. Not the seven he was shooting for, but still impressive. We look forward to seeing you all at the Marshal’s as yet to be named casino next month!  Special thanks to Sandy and Turtle for dealing.
