Gas Leak at the Skirt
There we were the opening of
the 2009 tour hosted by Slick but this time at the Out Skirts, and this time
with room to move. The Regal Beagle was open, the post was rubbed and bottles
were laid all across the counter for those who desire to partake and partake
some did (not naming names) (no sign of a gas leak).

We were all itching to play
but we first had to present the trophies for the 2008 tour, and discuss some
2009 tour rule changes. Leading the way was El Guapo who suggested changing from
9 to 10 tournaments counted at tour’s end and also discussed was new
player arrivals (and Sponge slurred something later on that I can’t quite
remember… something about stacking chips) (still no gas leak).
The buzzer rang and right off
the bat two players were all-in vying to be the player to win the first hand at
the Out Skirts, and after just one hand UniBobber doubled his buy-in through
Gamera and was on his way to mediocrity (no leak yet). The buy-in period was
just that, a frenzy of chips being added to the table as people were getting
short or busted during the first hour and our tournament prize pool was rising
nicely.
To
book-end the first hour, UniSponger was the last player to win a hand of the
first hour of the first tournament at the Out Skirts (Squeezed it in for ya
Spongie) (nope not yet).
It was Papa John’s for break
along with salad and other appetizers and now with two… count’em two…
refrigerators, no coolers are necessary to keep all the beer cold and ready to
consume. And hopefully everyone was well fed and well hydrated because it was
now time to get down to where it counts.
Before the tournament started,
all the players agreed to fork up a buck if someone wins a hand with 7/2 and
Slick tried to be the first to accomplish this feat, but was sadly the first to
be sent to the rail attempting such silliness and bowed out second earning “E”
her first souvenir chip of her SBPT career by taking the first headhunter of
2009. It wasn’t long until we were on the bubble with just five remaining and
Gamera who was short many times was still hanging in there.
Sadly “E” was only able to come away with one souvenir chip for the tournament
as she was sent home on the bubble by a new player named Mac Tonight who was
racking up kills and chips rapidly and looked to support phenomenon of the new guy
winning. But he would run into the Buzz Saw who put a huge dent in his stack
when her flush hit on the river.

So it seems that Gamera would have the last laugh over Spongie (gas leak?…nope), when (although short most of the night) Gamera took out the Sponge (who was big stack most of the night) in fourth place. Gamera would then leave in third, leaving our two players heads-up… The Saw and Mac Tonight!
It didn’t take long to crown a winner, and for the first time in exactly two years, The Saw reigns supreme!
Congratulations to The Saw for her win and her lead in the 2009 tour, and thanks to all who showed up and made the opening tournament at the Out Skirts a success! (sniff sniff sniff… hey what’s that smell?... sniff sniff...what is that?... it’s coming from Sponges chair!... Oh No!!! A gas leak!!!)
See you in February!
