From a “Ranch” to a “Palace”!

No question about it! Brawny is definitely the hottest player in our tour and hot on the heels of the top three of the leader board! Even coming off of an absence, where history tells us she hasn’t done very well, she played her way to "Tournament Champion" for the second time in three tournaments (for those counting, that is two wins and a runner-up in the last three tournaments that she has attended)!
Chili Dog was the host, and a mighty fine host she was. Her selection of main
course was a classic choice (Chili Dogs with all the fixing’s) and how can you
beat Amstel Light on tap in the swimming pool laden loser’s lounge! If for no
other reason, the air-conditioning on a day like that was enough to make her a
top host (can you imagine the tent at “Little Hill”) (Ouch!).
Right after the break things turned ugly, as M.C., trying to bully the table
calls “All-in” with pocket 7’s after the flop to find “The Saw” all to willing
to call with trip aces. The hand was all but over until the board four flushed
giving M.C. the win and sent “The Saw” out to cut some asphalt!
That was just the start of the haunted hands to come as flushes ruled the day
and cracked the best of starting hands. Sponge saw his pocket aces fall to a
flush on the river by the reigning tournament champion, Chili Dog! Slicks pair
of Kings wouldn’t hold up to the flush draw (which sent him packing), and much
later in the tournament, Sub-zero would see his aces cracked by a 10-6 suited
that made a full house. There were many examples, too many to remember in fact,
of hands that were the best when the money went in… and the worst when the cards
were all turned. It was only the strong and aggressive that would survive at the
“Haunted Ranch”! If you were willing to take risks, they seemed to pay off
almost every time.

Slowly but surely, the field started to thin and we had a final table. A couple of unfamiliar faces were seen at the final table… Sponge and Sandy found there way into the tournament and to the final table to give “Big Slicks Sports Book” another opportunity to lose a “Couples” bet!
A bunch of bad beats later, and we were heads up. The “Dry Cleaner” Against “Super Absorbent Brawny”, how could it be any more sanitary? And just one hand later, the Queen of the “Palace” had the trophy back in her clutches along with the Headhunter award and the first place loot!
A very well played tournament by Brawny, and a very well hosted event by Chili Dog! I look forward to going to “Haunted Rancho Rodriguez” again… and I can’t wait until next month to cross the moat and break down the “Palace” doors to battle once again for the coveted trophy!
