Fartman Steals The Show

The first ever Friday tournament was held at Casino De’ Paris due to scheduling difficulties in the month of June.  But that didn’t limit the quality poker!  It had everything our Saturday competitions have yielded…a few bad beats, great showdowns, and of course fun for everyone!

The trophy has spent months in Rancho Palos Verdes, Harbor City, and also Lomita but now is taking a trip to good old Torrance!  With the most spectacular comeback in S.B.P.T. history, Shane Doggy Dog Bubble wrapped the trophy for safe travel.

With barely enough chips to cover the big blind, and looking across at J-Ro’s mountain of them, it looked to Shaneola as if Chili Dog was sure to be our new champion.  But with quiet consistency Shaneorama chipped away, hand after hand until the chip lead was securely in his possession.  From that point on, the “Grey Fox” never looked back and was soon celebrating his victory.

Shane also grabbed the headhunter award to go with his 1st place victory.  In the last three months, the person who would eventually go on to win captured the headhunter award.  Maybe there is something to that!  We will be tracking that statistic as the year goes on!

Special props to J-Ro!  She almost single handedly represented the female cause.  There were five guys and she at one point and by the time there were just two, she had taken almost all of the chips and was looking to be our new champion.  Unfortunately for her, it didn’t play out that way.  The bad beats just kept coming and wouldn’t allow a victory.  When the two of them pushed there money “Awe In”, most of the time it was J-Ro with the best (sometimes dominating) hand but would be on the short end of it come the river card.  Just that close to an extra ten bucks! What a shame!

Third went to a new comer to the S.B.P.T.!  J.C., who pretty much had everyone’s number this night, forced a re-buy from M.C. Ronnie within the first hour, and before that doubled up against Sixth Man. Chasez had accumulated about 1.3 million in chips by break time!  He just seemed to have the cards when he needed them.  So, in his second tournament with the S.B.P.T. he captured a third place chip and the money that goes with it.  Good job!

Some notable hands:

1. We have a new highest hand of the South Bay Poker Tour!  A Straight flush!  A Jack to 7 of diamonds that never made it to showdown but was turned up by Chili Dog for her table to see.  Nice job!

2. We also had another four of a kind!  Short Stack turned up four 7’s that never made a showdown.

3. Chasez doubled up against Six Man’s King high flush by turning over the nuts flush.  He was unstoppable in the early goings!

Another great tournament with an even better ending!  We saw a historic heads up battle that will be hard to eclipse in future showdowns!  We also witnessed our highest hand of the S.B.P.T., and we have a new champion of the coveted trophy!  What more could one ask for?  Also, be prepared as we unveil a big surprise at the next tournament!  So until then…may your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

See you at next months tourney!!!!
