That 70’s Tourney: The Grimace Stunned As The Hamburgler Steals McVictory!!!

As the players trickled in to Marshals Inferno one by one, each admired the fireproof landscaping, and readied for battle. After some socializing and pondering of the logo contest entries, we sat down for our first ever Flame-Out!   This is where I have to apologize for this being the lamest front page I’ve written. I cannot find the story I try to write, much less recall most of what happened. This is in part due to what I believe is an historic SBPT first.  We had all players also participate in the after tourney cash game, so much of my recalling is blurred in my head.

The first hour had “E” picking up the slack for Meaty by upping the pot with re-buys.  The break came a mere 25 seconds after the piping hot Papa Johns was delivered  (picked up by one of our gracious hosts).  After having our fill of food, goodies and everyone wondering who would be serving the pie, we got back to the business at hand.   Operation Burma was a failure as both our far east ladies were in need of U.N. relief. I was next much to my dismay.  Players fell and stacks changed with Sponge going from early leader to rail riding, and Slick climbing slowly into contention after being short stacked.  The most notable hand and current SBPT high hand was Mac Tonight’s (aka: Hamburgler) Jack high straight flush.

Once we arrived heads up we featured a revived Hamburgler who was on the brink for quite a few hands, and Slick (aka: Grimace). It was a classic battle of employee vs. boss, and in the end the boss’s adage proved true: “if you got time to lean, you got time to clean” (chips that is) The Grimace had been playing Chicken Little all night, calling for the poker gods to reward his opponent with a boat to sink his hand. It happened at the worst time as the Hamburgler swapped victory with defeat, and left Grimace in a foul mood, and the owner of a rare 2nd place chip.  Sponge might have to get the nod as Mayor McCheese with his Scarface pocket pal, but all in all it was just a strange night, as the seemingly impossible kept happening.  Sorry this took so long to get out, and isn’t much of a page, but that’s just how it goes. I did enjoy Marshal’s hospitality, and the casinos decor did not go unseen. Special thanks to his family for helping out, and extra special thanks to Amy for dealing.
