Slick Wins???
If Slick wins, and there is no one there to see it, did it happen?
*First off, this front page is not meant to offend, upset or call anybody out, but at times it has to happen, and it's usually because the offended or named are guilty of what's being said.
So Jim and Marie go heads up for all the marbles and they are cheered on by no
one, and left to deal to themselves as the host went to bed earlier in the
evening. I had to leave early to deal with a puking, mucus filled 4yr old. For
others it seems they can't be eliminated fast enough as they are often headed
for the door as the last card is being dealt. We asked everyone in December if
they were still interested in keeping this going, and everyone seemed to fight
for a yes on this. What we have are people that play and leave, pretty much
moments after being knocked out.
This
is NOT the WSOP, you don't have to leave when you are done. Grab some snacks, a
drink or anything, and get your bad beat tale ready for the next player to get
ko'd! The cash game is long gone, since no one stays to even attempt it
anymore, and the general interest in the game and who does what in it is non
existent.
When this was started it was a group of friends (with Jim as the common
denominator for most) that played poker once a month and eventually got to know
all the other players by socializing during, and mostly AFTER they were knocked
out. Everyone playing now seems pretty cool, but how are we supposed to get to
know each other if everyone bails at the first opportunity?? We've got people
lining up plans while the game is in progress, and seem frustrated if they don't
get wiped out early enough to get to those plans. Others just seem to want to
leave to not be there anymore.
Jim
and I agreed a few seasons ago to stay until the end to make sure things went
smoothly. I can attest it's not fun at all to get killed first or second and
know you have to stay there all night, when you know there won't be any company
to hang with.
So last month, Rob spent most of the tourney reminding Tony that it was HIS
tourney, and he had to stay until it was finished,(AGAIN, something that was
agreed on in december...). Then Jim fills me in on how everyone bailed asap
again, and Rob went to bed, leaving Jim and Marie to deal to themselves for the
trophy. Do you know how lame that must feel to be in someone elses house and
have to finish up, and of course LOCK THE DOOR on the way out! If everyone is
really not interested, then just say so, and we can turn this into a monthly
cash game,
and
whoever shows, shows. If we need to eliminate rebuys to keep people from going
broke and investing too much into the evening, then say so!!
Again, it would be cool to get to know some of you better, but without that opportunity, it will just be a handshake at the beginning, and light banter during the game constituting a friendship. Jim is often left to be the dick that has to keep things flowing and in order, and I am left to be the ass that has to do things like this on the front page(for the 4 people that read it of course). So please don't continue to make us fuck ourselves to keep this alive. Again, of you take offense, then so be it, none intended. I'm just putting the facts as they appear out there to be read.
As for the game, I left early so I missed most of it, and Marie was doing quite well before I left. When Jim told me they were heads up for the trophy, It didn't surprise me. Congrats to Marie for her aggressive, sometimes risky play!! As for Slick, I went to his house the day after, and did not see the trophy! Could this all be a big April Fools joke, with Marie hosting the tourney after all??? I guess you will actually have to show up to find out!! I know I'll be there...
