Chilli Dog Serves It Up HOT!!

We were at full attendance for the first tournament to grace the streets of Redondo Beach.  Everyone was ready to play and had their game faces on.  Sponge and Sandy took game faces to the next level and showed up in costume to celebrate Halloween, since the tournament was only three days before the haunted holiday.

The tournament went off without a hitch.  Butterfingers, Sixth man, and Short Stack had everything under control when we arrived.  After a short session of socializing, the tournament got underway.

Quickly, some big hands were displayed.  Slick turned over the fourth 8 to take some chips from Fartman, and “Awe-In” and Butterfingers tangled early and split their pot when they both turned over pocket kings.  Everyone was really trying to play his or her best poker, although that is a relative statement.

Some things happened as predicted or pretty close to predicted as M.C. found his way to the sideline pretty quick (first out) and also Brawny who looked as if she would be sticking around for a while in early competition, found her way to the sidelines third out.  Some big surprises were also seen.  One of the S.B.P.T.’s most conservative players, Senior’ Pablo was second out and Mrs. Pablo didn’t fair as well as predicted either (she was predicted to win) as she was out seventh. The final table saw very little excitement and seemed to go on forever.  There was plenty of All-Ins but very little drama as the best cards won the vast majority of the time.  The short stack would go All-In with the best hand and double up, so no one got sidelined to initiate a blind increase.  One hand that did lend some excitement was: Butterfingers All-In with pocket 8’s against Short Stacks pocket 10’s against Fishy’s pocket Q’s and in complete Butterfinger fashion, he won with trip 8’s.

But the real story was Chili Dog… She played her cards steadily without mistakes and battled her way through the pack of hopefuls to get to heads up play against the reigning points leader and three time trophy winner Sponge.  Once they were heads up, it didn’t take long to crown a champion.  When Sponge said “Awe-In’ Chili quickly called and turned over her trip nines against Sponges pair of fives.  After the turn Sponge was drawing dead with no hope of being the first four-time trophy winner.  This was a good turn of fortune for Chili to get that monkey off her back from when she was heads up with Fartman who snatched the victory right out of her clutching fingers.

It was a late night but it was a great night.  Way to go Chili!  Way to represent the female persuasion!

See you at next months tourney!!!!
