Big Slicks Forecasted Finishes

After a year or so of sitting at the tables with our competitors, I have seen the best and the worst of each one, their techniques or lack of. And now that Unibobber has graciously given me a platform, I will expound on my findings.
This list will be posted monthly for everyone to see and comment on. The message board (Poker Talk) will be the conversation site. I want comment on these picks and a little boasting as well. They’re here to add intrigue and boost our competitive nature; so let us in on where you think you will place.
It’s pretty simple. From the play I’ve seen, I’m forecasting the placement of the competitors when it’s all said and done. The forecast that is posted along with what you’re reading will be for this month’s tournament, and there will be a link to previous months as we go along.
I’ve listed all of our players 1 – 15. Provided everyone shows, this is my prediction. If someone doesn’t show up for the tourney, just consider their name removed and the players listed behind will move up a spot.
I dare you to prove me wrong, but I welcome it!
December 2005
Here are my picks in order of 1st place on down:
1st: Slick~ After three miserable performances (a couple from bad beats and one first out from stupid aggression), look to see Slick heads up for the trophy! And unless you’ve put your time in at heads-up play, don’t expect to leave with the trophy! Basically playing for pride at this point, he will leave it all on the table… probably in the center. So if you feel man enough to take it, (to quote the immortal Blondie)… “Call Me”!
2nd: El Guapo~ I’m feeling pretty confident that the “Big Man” will have a big performance at Makena Cove. With nothing to play for except to be the last tournament champion of the year and celebrate New Years with the trophy, I expect to see some aggression (but then again… it is Pablo)!
3rd: Chili Dog~ Man have the women been hot… and this is the pilot light of their monster flame! She seems to be the spark that ignited the onslaught of female final table finishers. Having recently climbed the trophy ladder by capturing the title of tournament champion… she’s set an example for the rest of the women of the S.B.P.T. to follow!
4th: Awe-In~ It’s do or die! She was gone last month and that dropped her out of third place to fifth in the year-end standings. But she is not far out of third! Only four points separate her and the third place contestant. So she needs a terrific finish to end this year and with any luck, end it with some pocket change!
5th: Brawny~ What a complete 180 degree turn around from the few months ago. Giving her another 2nd place chip to add to her collection and I predict, the confidence to step up again and this time take it home to Torrance!
6th: Short Stack~ As you can tell, I’m not exactly calling these picks from the perspective of how well someone has done in the past or basing them on any statistical analysis. This month is more of who’s due! Who needs to end with a bang! Short Stack has gotten very close in the past and he certainly could this time.
7th: Sub-Zero~ Can he keep the trophy at “The Cove” for another month and earn his first tournament win? It wouldn’t be too far fetched. If he had been able to attend the four tournaments that he had missed this year, and had maintained his 9.57 average per tournament… this may be our end of the year leader and 2005 Champion! His only downfall is that he hasn’t taken the trophy home! Last chance for 2005!
8th: Spongie~ This is where we get to see what he is really made of! He’s the point’s leader by a fairly wide margin going into the last month of the year, but he can be caught and passed. If he finishes where I have predicted, he should wrap up the title without an issue, but if he stumbles and goes out first or second… he has a chance of losing the title! Does the Spongie have a spine like a catfish or a jellyfish? This month will tell!
9th: Shanetacular~ Here is the guy that little yellow sponges fear the most! Within striking distance of the Sponge and coming off a less that fantastic finish last month, he has to be fired up for this month’s competition! One way or another, it should be interesting!
10th: Sandy~ She too can maybe catch the Sponge but the stars would all have to line up and then burn out and all fall into the ocean somewhere off the Florida Keys! But second is looking real promising. Can the husband and wife team take first and second? This month sure has its share of drama!
11: Fishy~ Sorry Fishy, the hosting duties and the fact that you have just won doesn’t lead me to believe the will be any real hunger inside you, unless you really want to be the first female to go back to back. Other than that, my guess is, that you will play a quiet, comfortable game and finish where you finish.
12th: Butterfingers~ This is the guy that could turn the whole year upside down! With his aggressive play and good luck, it could mean disaster for any of the point’s leaders at his table. It could also mean a big payday if your hand beats his because most likely you both will be “Awe-In”!
13th: Sixth Man~ What can you say but “c’mon man… snap out of it”! I’m looking for these guys to be game changers! With nothing to lose and everything to gain (because all the points leaders, I suspect, will be timid and trying to go as far as they can), he can run rough shot over these guys and collect some pots.
14th: Scooter~ The holidays have been draining and they seemed to have siphoned the fuel out of Scooters tank. I asked where her confidence level was for this coming tournament and her response was pretty dismal. Forgive me honey for the placement!
15th: M.C. Ronnie~ Well if you could do that again (take fourth), I wouldn’t hesitate to move you up the charts, but I need more proof! Here is another game changer! It will be very interesting to see Sponge at the table with both Butterfingers and M.C., and Shanomatic across the way at another table. M.C., here is your chance to be a three time champion and take home the trophy in 2005!
