Big Slick Sets The Line!

Last year "Slicks picks" was a guessing game of who will place where in our monthly tournaments. This year will be very different. This year will be as I intended for "Slicks Picks" to be, a format for friendly wagering! This is strictly for fun and any actual betting that may occur, neither Slick, nor this web site take any responsibility! That being said, who wants to bet?

I will be setting the betting line for each of our players. I will also set the "Over/Under". Understand, that setting an "Over/Under" will be difficult due to player nonparticipation. Example: if I set the "Over/Under" on a player at 8, this means that if you guess the over, the player must finish 7th or higher and if you guess the under, he must finish 9th or lower… but if only 10 players show up that month, the odds of winning the over are greatly increased. But since this is for fun anyhow, oh well!

Because this is a betting line and not the order of where I pick everyone to place, I will follow no particular order of placement as I set line. P.S. Understand that the line is the odds of winning and nothing else. Second place doesn’t mean Jack!

Good luck everyone! Don’t forget about parlays!

January 2006

Spongie: [Line= 3.3 to 1] – [O/U= 6]

This is a guy who has done exceptionally well at "Little Hill Casino" and with two wins out of three to show from "The Hill", who can deny that he has a great chance of getting his third? He’s been on a trophy drought as of late, but at "The Hill", good things come to those who wait.

Sandy Cheeks: [Line= 2.8 to 1] – [O/U= 5]

This is the half of the "French Connection" that is really making some noise! Having fought her way into two more chips last month to total seven (I believe) for the year, she is looking to be a strong contender.

Fart Man: [Line= 4.6 to 1] – [O/U= 7]

Fart Man has struggled somewhat the last couple of months. Can he settle down and play conservative? Probably, unless he gets stuck at M.C.’s table again, and has to commit to "Awe-In" to play a hand.

Brawny: [Line= 7.8 to 1] – [O/U= 9]

Brawny didn’t play last month but did very well the month before. Although before that, she had big troubles for quite a while. She could certainly take the coveted trophy home with her if she has a game like she did at "Little Hill" back in April!

Chili Dog: [Line= 3.9 to 1] – [O/U=6]

I feel very good about this young lady’s chances. She has been peaking the last few months. She has a trophy win and a couple final table appearances to show for it. I expect to see her at the final table this month and maybe even grab a chip to take home!

M.C. Ronnie: [Line= 6.2 to 1] – [O/U=9]

M.C. uses a playing style that he refers to as "Poker Fu"! It has been known to get him very far in some tournaments, but it has also been known to send him to the rail faster than three "illigals" will jump into the back of you truck when you pull into a 7/11.

Senor` Pablo: [Line= 6.4 to 1] – [O/U= 8]

He can’t find a style that works! If he plays conservative, he doesn’t get any cards and when he decides to play aggressive, he gets placed at M.C.’s table and gets over-shadowed by M.C.’s aggression and forced to go "Awe-In". What can the big man do?

The "Saw": [Line= 5.4] – [O/U= 7]

She runs hot and cold, and cusses like a sailor! But she has had some luck at "Little Hill", so I am confident that she will do well. If she can finally graduate from kicker school, she will be one heck of a player.

Slick: [Line= 4.2 to 1] – [O/U= 7]

Normally when someone is a 4-time trophy winner, I would be more confident in him or her, but "Little Hill" hasn’t been that kind to Bigs! Having gone out first at the last "Little Hill" tournament, his confidence is pretty low. A win here will really help his confidence tremendously!

Scooter: [Line= 6.0 to 1] – [O/U= 8]

It was terrible that she had to miss the last month’s tournament. She is really looking forward to playing some cards. I hope she isn’t over eager. Nice conservative play will get her far and maybe into a chip and a great start for the New Year!

Fishy: [Line= 4.2 to 1] – [O/U= 7]

A trophy win and a final table appearance back to back is a good way to end a year. Let’s see how this 1 time trophy winner will start the 2006 season. By the way, "Makena Cove Casino" was a great place to play!

Sub Zero: [Line= 4.2 to 1] – [O/U= 7]

Going out first was unheard of by this player until last month! Usually a conservative player who makes the final table pretty regularly, it was quite a surprise to see that. I certainly don’t expect to see that again for quite a while and I am sure I won’t.

Short Stack: [Line= 4.5 to 1] – [O/U= 7]

Some days he’s on and some days he’s off. Which one will we see this month? I am counting on seeing a good game from Shortie! He’s missed the last two tourneys so I base that on strictly a gut feeling.

Sixth Man: [Line= 6.1 to 1] – [O/U= 8]

This is a big time gambler! And wow is he coming off a big win last month… not the trophy, but the Denver/New England game where he watched it drunk in a bar instead of at Makena Cove Casino. Fortunately for him and for Fishy, Denver went on to victory and Sixth Man can pay his rent for the month!

Butterfingers: [Line= 7.8 to 1] – [O/U= 9]

He can build chips as fast as anyone but he can lose them faster than most… hence the name Butterfingers. He became a trophy winner at "Little Hill" the last time when he single handedly crushed the field. I don’t expect near that result this time!

Charlie Brown: [Line= 9.2 to 1] – [O/U= 8]

Chuck is a mystery! I’ve played a few cash games with him but no tournaments. Will tournaments change his game? Will he be nervous? We’ll have to wait and see.

Memphis Belle: [Line= 5.5 to 1] – [O/U= 8]

I’ve played a few times with the Bombardier, twice in a tournament format and he’ll make you pay to see cards. He’s a strong player all around and I expect, he’ll do well in the South Bay Poker Tour!

Marco Polo: [Line= 9.2 to 1] – [O/U= 9]

Although I sat right next to him at a table, I learned nothing from his play and I don’t even recall if he did well or not. I do recall that he was involved in a hand that tripled me up, other than that… he’s a mystery!
